Все то же. Ничего не делаем. Заметил, что у меня пропали часы и кошелек с деньгами. Вот она горячка. Из газет узнали, что нас потеснили на Карпатах. Я всей душой хочу славного и победного мира, и всякая неудача делает мне больно. Но мира позорного я не желаю, и с радостью сложу свою голову, лишь бы Россия была великой и славной, как до Японской войны.

Everything is the same. We are not doing anything. I noticed that my watch and my wallet with money were missing. What a headache. We learned from the newspapers that we are being pressed back to the Carpathians. My entire soul desires nothing more than a glorious and triumphant peace, and every setback pains me. But I do not want a dishonorable peace, and will gladly lay down my life if only Russia could be as great and glorious as it was before the Japanese War.
